Neuromonitoring of sensory and motor pathways during the surgical repair of the brachial plexus or peripheral nerves can provide valuable information. Stimulation of nervous tissue within the operative field can allow the identification of the site and extent of a lesion or even the viability of a nerve root stump as a site for nerve repair or transfer. At times it is even possible to see the positive impact that neurolysis has on evoked potentials intraoperatively, which has been shown to reflect a positive outcome.
